CASE MANAGEMENT
Our Case Management Programs Division places full-time site coordinators directly within Duval County schools, where they provide support for students who are at risk of falling behind or dropping out. The programs in this division provide access to many important services, including individual and group-session counseling, home visits, and coordinated parental involvement.
THE STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
The Student Enrichment Program is the original program that Communities In Schools initiated in Jacksonville schools more than 25 years ago. This program places full-time site coordinators on school campuses across Duval County, working individually with a group of 90 to 100 students. These students receive personalized counseling individually and in group sessions throughout the year. Our goal is to empower them to achieve their dreams while equipping them with the essential life skills they need to succeed.
Home visits and parental involvement are essential parts of the program. Our site coordinators go the extra mile to connect students with vital community resources. But our reach doesn't stop there. Beyond our dedicated site coordinators' one-on-one work with select students from the school's student body, we also engage with the broader school community through various school-wide services. These include engaging career fairs, informative seminars for young men and women, and literacy programs that benefit hundreds of students.
High school students in this program also have the opportunity to participate in our workforce development initiative to prepare them for life after graduation. Learn more here!
Funding for the Student Enrichment Program is provided by Duval County Public Schools, The Jim Moran Foundation, the DuBow Family Foundation, Boeing, The Coach Foundation, The Beaches Community Fund, the TPC Red Coat Charity Committee, The Edna Sproull Williams Foundation, The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, and the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation.
GEAR UP
Communities In Schools partners with Duval County Public Schools in two 7-year Federal GEAR UP grants. These transformative programs start with 7th-grade cohorts in 10 DCPS middle schools. The grants are cohort-based, allowing us to follow these students through high school and one year of post-graduation transition. Communities In Schools case manages groups of students at each participating school.
ACHIEVERS FOR LIFE (AFL)
Achievers For Life (AFL) is a dropout prevention initiative developed and funded by United Way of Northeast Florida in partnership with Communities In Schools of Jacksonville and Jewish Family and Community Services.
AFL focuses on sixth-grade students showing risk factors for school disengagement. These factors include low GPAs, low FCAT scores, and excessive absences, and provide them with family support, a mentor, and in-school assistance. Our Communities In Schools achievement advocates work closely with these students to keep them on the right track and prepare them for high school.
BRIDGE TO SUCCESS
Funded by Duval County Public School, the Bridge to Success Program is dedicated to students over-age for their grade level. Our site coordinators address all barriers to graduation and provide the necessary support to help these students graduate on time, ready to fulfill their college and career aspirations.
At Communities In Schools Jacksonville, we believe in the power of education and support to transform lives. Our case management programs are dedicated to helping students in Jacksonville, FL, overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Join us in making a difference in the lives of these young individuals.
